How We Work
We are travel planners for people wishing to tour Britain and Ireland under their own steam. Think of us as your Personal Assistant, albeit endowed with a specialist knowledge!
Outline Itinerary
First of all if you would like some ideas request our Free Sample Itineraries by filling in your email address in the panel on the right. Then tell us some details about your ideal holiday, via our online enquiry form, and we will propose your personal outline itinerary for the modest fee of £27, which is payable by PayPal. We will also give you approximate costs of the accommodation and our charges. If you decide to use our service to organise your holiday we deduct the £27 from our service fee.
Real Britain Company – Charges
We base our service fee on an estimate of effort to complete your package. This obviously varies greatly from one customer to another, depending on a variety of factors, such as length of stay, the number of people in the party, the number of stops and the complexity.
However, to give you an idea, an average two week holiday for two people with 5 stops will be around £270. This works out at less than £20/day. We, and our many satisfied customers, think this is a small price to pay to get the most out of your well earned break! As the length of holiday increases so the cost/day comes down and if there are more than two of you then the cost per person also reduces.
The service fee is our only income so we also pass on direct costs, such as books, postage and credit card fees. This varies between about £45 – £120 depending on the size of the package.
The Complete Package
If you like what you see we will arrange a call to hone the Outline Itinerary to your own specification and agree the details with you. We then create a Final Outline Itinerary and agree a budget.
The next step is book all the accommodation and any activities or events that need to be pre-booked, and to then complete your package. Please note, in order to remain entirely independent, we take no commission from the accommodation providers.

The complete package, which we will send to you via post (as well as email when possible) contains:
- Detailed Itinerary, which gives extra information on places and activities of interest in the area, suggestions on scenic routes to follow, details of any other bookings (such as theatre trips or train journeys)
- Details of accommodation
- Route Instructions on how to get from one port of call to the next
- Road maps of Britain and/or Ireland, which we reference in the Route Instructions and the Detailed Itinerary
- Touring maps of some areas as appropriate
- Literature relating to your interests, such as a book of walks
- Other generally useful information about travel in Britain
You are then all set to go! You can relax and enjoy your vacation exploring Britain and Ireland.
