We receive many requests for itineraries that include various aspects of history, The Tudors (Henry VIII and Elizabeth I) perhaps being the most popular. One era which has largely been overlooked is that of the Anglo- Saxons, who occupied the 600 year space in history between the Romans and the Normans. These were formative years for the ‘English’. The BBC have a good account.
Just recently I have learned a great deal about our religous heritage from this era by my involvement in organising a trip called In the Footsteps of the Forgotten English Saints. A fascinating trip for anyone interested in the history of Christianity or in the Anglo Saxon era in general!
