Accommodation & third party services

Our accommodation choices are based on extensive research and we strive to obtain the highest standard available at the time of booking and within the agreed price band.

We book the accommodation on your behalf and in your name (see Payment below). It will be your responsibility to pay the balance due at the end of your stay in each place. We add no markup nor take any cut. The reason we have chosen to do it this way is so that we can be totally transparent in our cost structure and you can be sure that we have no vested interest in choosing certain establishments. The contract is between yourself and the establishment and additional terms and conditions will apply, for example see Cancellations below.

The hotels and suppliers of other services used by The Real Britain Company are independent contractors and not agents or employees of the Real Britain Company. The Real Britain Company are not liable for the acts, errors, omissions, representations, warranties, breaches or negligence of any such suppliers or for any personal injuries, death, property damage, or other damages or expenses resulting there from.

Payment

When an outline itinerary and budget has been agreed we ask you to pay 20% of the budgeted cost of accommodation. We will use this to pay any cash deposits required as we make the bookings on your behalf. We will also ask you to provide your credit or debit card details as it is increasingly common in the UK for credit card details to be taken as insurance against no-show or late cancellation when a cancellation charge may be taken. Advance payments in full may be requested for services which are not refundable, e.g. tickets for the theatre or sporting events.

Finally, we will ask you to pay the balance. This will include our service fee, any fixed costs involved in completing the package (which will already have been costed in the outline itinerary document), less any residual unused deposit.

e.g.

  • Accommodation estimate = £2000
  • Initial payment = £400
  • £320 used on deposits leaving £80 unused.
  • Service charge + fixed costs = £235
  • Final payment = £235 - £80 = £155

Should the unused deposit be more than the service charge and fixed costs we will refund you the difference.

Some smaller establishments and businesses will only take cash or a personal cheque. If you would prefer you can send us the funds via Paypal and we will pay in full for you. We do have to levy a charge of 4% to cover the transaction cost.
